Mahindra has planned to launch the highly anticipated ScorpioN on June 27, 2022. Meanwhile, the manufacturer is revealing the details of the upcoming car little by little through short teasers. The new SUV will include a series of feature updates. The company has indicated that the current generation of Scorpio will be known as Scorpio Classic.
Mahindra calls the new ScorpioN the Big Daddy of SUVs and has released new teasers. Now Mahindra has released a new teaser of the upcoming 2022 Scorpio today.
2022 Mahindra Scorpio N
The 2022 Mahindra ScorpioN will go into production later this month, when dealer training also begins. The new Mahindra Scorpio will be grand in exterior and interior. The new teaser shows that the company will be offering supreme command seats with the 2022 Scorpio N.
Built on a body-on-frame platform, the ScorpioN has been upgraded in terms of design update to a larger, more robust and premium stance. It comes with options for 6 and 7 seats. The 2022 Mahindra ScorpioN has been confirmed to feature LED headlamps and fog lamps with chrome trim, a 6-blade honeycomb grille, new Twin Peaks logo, extended wheel arches with brushed aluminum accents and a brushed silver skid plate. It will also pack 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Things have also been upgraded in the cabin, giving the new ScorpioN a more premium feel with a long list of features. It will be seen with a sunroof, AdrenoX-powered touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car features, automatic climate control and a Sony sound system with speakers on the dashboard, doors and roof. Features will also be extended to power seats and 3-row AC vents, etc.
Mahindra has also raised the bar when it comes to safety on the new ScorpioN. The SUV’s safety features include ADAS, active cruise control and emergency braking, along with high beam assist, traffic sign recognition, automatic emergency braking system, driver drowsiness system and blind spot assist. It will also receive 6/7 airbags, ABS, EBD and ESP in addition to TPMS etc.
With these features and the ladder frame chassis on which the new Scorpion is placed, it is expected to offer a better safety rating in crash testing.
In terms of engine, the Mahindra Scorpio N will be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The mStallion engine of the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine will deliver a maximum power of 170 hp. On the other hand, the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine will deliver 130 hp or 160 hp depending on the variant.
While the Thar and XUV700 will be offered with the same engines as the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N, the engines are tuned differently. The Thar’s 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine delivers 130 hp, while on the XUV700 it delivers 155 hp/185 hp. However, when it comes to the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, it delivers 200 hp.
The price of the Mahindra Scorpio N is expected to be between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. When it comes to the competitors, the Scorpio N will rival SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos etc.
