Royal Enfield Classic 350 posted a total of 29,959 units against 9,239 units in the same period in 2021 with positive year-over-year sales growth of 224.2 percent

In the 350cc middleweight motorcycle segment, Royal Enfield has long led the way thanks to the Classic 350. Last month was no different, as the Classic 350 posted a cumulative national number of 29,959 units against 9,239 units in the same period in 2021 with a YoY positive sales growth of 224.2 percent.

The Classic 350 received a major upgrade last year as the new twin-cradle chassis, revised 349cc J-series engine, updated visuals, vibration levels and improved fit and finish proved to be a successful combination for the manufacturer of retro engines. The Meteor 350 finished in second position and is currently the best selling cruiser in India.

A total of 8,209 units were sold in May 2022, compared to 3,375 units in the same period in 2021, with an annualized volume growth of 143.2 percent. The Bullet 350 finished in third place with a total of 6,958 units, up from 4,557 units in the same period 12 months ago, with sales up 52.6% year over year.

The engine bay saw a big jump in volumes last month as the industry returned to normal and production restrictions were eased. Royal Enfield is currently developing the next generation Bullet 350 and it could go on sale next year. The Chennai-based brand will introduce the Hunter 350 in early August and will become the most affordable RE when it arrives.

It can be priced around Rs. 1.4 lakh (ex-showroom) and is reported to have a stripped-down derivative codenamed J1C2 in the pipeline. RE is also testing a range of 650cc and a pair of 450cc bikes in India. The Electra 350 finished in fourth place last month with 3,769 units sold, up from 2,112 units in the same period in 2021, with volume increasing 78.4 percent year-on-year.


The Honda CB350 range had a total of 3,308 units in May 2022, up from just 428 units during the corresponding period in 2021, with an annual growth rate of 672.9%.
