Aamir Khan hosts team reunion as Lagaan turns 21. See inside photos, videos

Aamir Khan’s Oscar-nominated film Lagaan recently had its 21st birthday and to celebrate that occasion, the film’s team had a reunion. Aamir Khan’s production house shared a video of the drink on social media.

The video gives a glimpse of the intimate celebration the actor hosted for filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar, actors Yashpal Sharma, Akhilendra Mishra, Raj Zutshi, Shankar Pandey, Raja Awasthi, Suhasini Mulay, Pradeep Ram Singh Rawat and Amin Gazi. Former Indian cricketers Irfan Pathan and Aakash Chopra were also part of the celebrations.

Aamir Khan Productions shared a video of the party on Instagram, writing, “#21YearsOfLagaan.” Irfan commented on the video: “What a lovely evening.” One fan wrote: “so cute.” Another wrote: “What a great idea to meet after years, what fun it was …” Another said: “What a spectacular reunion!!!”, another wished that Aamir’s upcoming movie was also such a hit they wrote: “I hope one day we will celebrate 21 years of #lalsinghchaddha in this way ️.”

The production house shared another video, writing: “Thank you for all the love for the past 21 years! Aamir Khan Productions’ journey started with #Lagaan and the film is still part of our journey! Sach aur saahas hai jiske mann mein, ant mein jeet usi ki rahein…”

Lagaan was a breakthrough in Aamir’s career and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Last year, as the film celebrated its 20th anniversary, Aamir Ashutosh thanked Gowarikar for the opportunity to be a part of the film. He had said: “First, I would like to thank Ashutosh (Gowariker), and the entire cast and crew, and the partners and the entire exhibitor industry for their support. I also want to say thank you to the seniors of the film industry who supported the project and praised it so much.”

He had also mentioned how challenging it was to make the film at the time. “Lagaan was a film that made us pay for our Lagaan in full. It was a very difficult movie to make. We went through a lot of hardships, but the film also gave the team many unforgettable memories, relationships and happiness,” he said.

Aamir is waiting for the release of his next movie – Laal Singh Chaddha – starring Kareena Kapoor. The film is an official Indian adaptation of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump.
