After Annu Kapoor, Hansal Mehta shares how he was robbed in France

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta shared his own story of being robbed in France when he responded to actor Annu Kapoor’s video saying he was robbed of valuables during his Europe tour. Talking about his own experience in France, Hansal said he too suffered a similar fate when his money and cards were stolen and he didn’t even have money to return to his hotel, carrying his two daughters with him. Hansal took to Twitter on Friday to share his story. He wrote: “I saw a video of Annu Kapoor, gentleman being looted in France of his valuables and belongings. Had a similar experience in the Louvre where my wallet was picked and I was literally stranded with no cash, debit or credit card. More than anything else that makes you feel horribly violated.”

He further added in another tweet: “I had my daughters with me and had to frantically call my wife to pick us up as we had no funds to pay for our trip back to our hotel. The rest of the trip a family vacation was ruined because of the fear and inconvenience caused by this theft, the cards were blocked.”

While saying the thief didn’t earn much, he added: “And totally worthless/useless to the thief. There was hardly any money. Moral of the story: be careful not to get robbed like this in France. India becomes often unnecessarily vilified.”

Annu had shared a video from Europe on Thursday about his bad experience in France. He said in the video: “My Prada bag was stolen, with a lot of cash in Swiss Francs and Euros, my iPad, my diary and credit card. They stole everything so if you visit France be very careful because here are pickpockets, dishonest people and thieves.”

Hansal Mehta married his partner Safeena Husain in California last month. They have two daughters together: Kimaya and Rehana.

Hansal’s last film director was Chhalaang in 2020. He recently directed Bay in anthology, Modern Love: Mumbai. He is also producing the second installment in the Scam series, this time set to scam queen Abdul Karim Telgi on postage stamp paper.
