Anees Bazmee is the star of the moment. The director, who is behind the horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, has enjoyed the film’s super success. It has become a blockbuster, raking in over Rs. 175 crores domestically, and is in no mood to slow down even as it enters its fifth week.
Not only that, Anees Bazmee’s 2006 film, Naam with Ajay Devgn, will finally see the light of day this year. In an exclusive interview with us, Aneez Bazmee told us whether a movie is suffering a delay of more than a decade and a half. He also talked about his plans for making a sequel to Ajay Devgn, the lead character Deewangee, and the update of the No Entry sequel (tilted No Entry Me Entry for now).
Speaking of the delayed release of Naam, Anees Bazmee said that despite everything, the emotion, the relationship and the essence remain the same. He joked, “Some stories are such that they remain relevant even after 25 years. It’s the same 25 years ago, it’s the same now, and it will remain the same. So we need to understand if the movie is like that.” It’s my life” was about the relationship between father and son. So the style of presenting that relationship can change, the tone can change, but the relationship, it stays. Likewise, there is an action movie where the hero seeks revenge. Now there are movies about it revenge, and there will be movies on the same subject even in 10 or 25 years. Yes, the approach, the styling will change, so when a movie comes out after a long time, there are some differences.”
He added: “We had started shooting for Naam in 2006. We are now in 2022 and I can only hope that people would like it. I will be happy if the producers do not suffer losses. All my wishes are with the producers and I just hope people will like the movie.”
Naam has Ajay Devgn in the lead role, and another cult film that Ajay and Aneez Bazmee collaborated on is Deewangee. Incidentally, there were reports that there might be a sequel or a remake of the film. To this, Bazmee revealed: “Ajay is a friend. When we meet, we talk a lot. It’s not even like we keep meeting often, but when we meet, it feels like yesterday we had each other. That’s the comparison, the relationship, the love that I share with him. So when I met him some time ago, he had said, ‘Anees bhai, what a movie we had made – Deewangee.’ All of us, who joined involved in the film are very proud that we made a successful film Ajay, and even I want a part 2 of the film to be made Just imagine – if a person could be this cunning then, now after 20 years at what level he would be. If I can think at that level, if I can spin a story around it, then we will definitely make Deewangee 2.”
Bazmee also shared an update on the sequel to No entry, adding that the film will be hitting the floors soon. “We will be starting No Entry sequel very soon. I have met Salman Bhai (Salman Khan) 2-3 times and he said ‘Let’s start that movie’. I had told him the story before and I still do now and he really liked it. It’s a good social film and I’m sure it will start soon,” the director revealed.
About his upcoming movies, Anees Bazmee said that he is someone who likes to walk while others are running and running. He said: “I’m also working on the script of 1-2 films, but in general I don’t plan too much ahead. I feel and pray that it gets a good release. Then I think about what I’m going to make next. I have it I feel like people are running around too much, and I just walk. That’s how I’ve been walking for 40 years and I want to continue to do that.”
He concluded by saying, “I don’t believe in running to make 3-4 movies. I feel like 24 hours is less for me in a day while making one movie so I salute those who can make 2-3 movies. But for me, 1 film is enough and I want to go at the same pace.”
