There is good news for Indian cricket fans as veteran spinner R Ashwin, who missed the flight to the UK last week after testing positive for the novel coronavirus, is set to arrive in the country in the coming days. According to the report, sources in BCCI and management in the UK confirmed the development and are expected to fly in the next 24 hours.

The report also stated that Jayant Yadav was considered a standby in place of Ashwin should the 35-year-old spinner not make a full recovery.

Ashwin has had tremendous success in the traditional format of the game and is currently second in the list of highest wicket takers in this format. He has 442 wickets from 86 Tests.

Meanwhile, head coach Rahul Dravid, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer have also joined the rest of the squad. The three were on the T20I series against South Africa and made it to Leicester. BCCI also shared photos of Rahul Dravid talking to the team.

The BCCI has yet to name a replacement for KL Rahul, who missed the T20Is against Proteas and will now be out of tests due to a groin injury. The Karnataka cricketer was named vice captain for the upcoming series in which India will play three T20Is and the same number of ODIs excluding the test.
