Asia Cup India Squad – BCCI Selectors Diktat ‘NO REST’: As expected, BCCI selectors have passed DIKTAT that no player will get a rest from Asia Cup T20 to T20 World Cup in Australia. According to a report, voters have also voted out of the mold of Virat Kohli. The former India captain has been rested for the ongoing India vs West Indies series and has also decided to rest on the India tour of Zimbabwe as well. After speaking with selectors, Kohli has now told them that he will be available from ASIA CUP T20 in the UAE: Follow Asia Cup Live Updates with InsideSport.IN
“Virat had spoken to selectors that he would be available from the Asian Cup. The players of the first team hardly get any rest from the Asian Cup until the end of World T20. Therefore, this is a two-week period after the Windies tour where they can rest,” PTI quoted a source as saying.

It’s not just Kohli, the Zimbabwe tour doesn’t include seniors from the team. With the kind of workload Indian players have had late, the rest makes sense.
It also gives the players a chance to come back fresh for the important stage of the year. They have the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, and more importantly the T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli will also be back in the continental competition. Meanwhile, selectors have decided that there will be no further rest for the senior players of the Indian team, including from the Asian Cup to the T20 World Cup.
“The first team players will hardly get a rest from Asia Cup until the end of World T20. Therefore, this is a two week period after the Windies tour when they can rest. After the West Indies series, no one will get any rest” PTI quoted a source as saying.
As previously reported by InsideSport, the Asia Cup roster will be announced on August 8.

All eyes on Kohli: Questions have been raised about the long break given to Kohli. With the player in shape, playing matches is the best solution to get back in shape, but the selectors thought otherwise.
So there will be pressure when the player returns to the Asian Cup squad. It’s important for him to get back to his way of scoring. Another succession of low scores and all will be difficult for India’s team management, who have supported him despite his failures.
Competition a threat to Kohli? With Kohli not in the best shape, other players are counting their chances. One of them is Deepak Hooda, who made the right sound and scored points whenever he gets the chance to hit. It could get much trickier if Hooda scores big runs and Kohli keeps failing.
