Bentley: The swiftest, most dynamic and most luxurious Continental GT yet created

Bentley’s updated model portfolio is crowned with a new ultimate version of the Continental GT Mulliner to lead the Continental family of two-door grand tourers

Bentley’s updated model portfolio is topped off with a new ultimate version of the Continental GT Mulliner, which will be at the top of the Continental family of two-door grand tourers. With improvements to both the W12 engine and the advanced chassis shared with GT Speed, the GT Mulliner W12 will be the most powerful, fastest, most dynamic and most luxurious Continental GT ever made.

The new GT Mulliner W12 combines the best of all worlds to create the ultimate Continental GT that combines the performance and dynamism of the Speed with the comfort of the recently announced Azure and the magical touch and artistic flair of Mulliner handicrafts. Its W12 TFSI engine, handcrafted at Bentley’s carbon neutral factory in Crewe, delivers 659 PS (650 hp), resulting in a top speed of 335 km/h and 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds (0-100 km) /you). in 3.6 seconds). Electronic four-wheel steering enhances the dynamic character of the Continental GT Mulliner W12 in each of the driving modes. Mulliner’s unique 22-inch wheel design features self-levelling badging that ensures the Bentley ‘B’ remains vertical at all times.

The interior of the Continental GT Mulliner W12 is characterized by luxury and offers a level of choice and customization that only Mulliner can offer. A unique color split is exclusive to the car, with a new combination of primary and secondary skin merged with a third color through a flowing design line. Eight different tricolor combinations are proposed by Mulliner, utilizing Bentley’s palette of hides and threads to create a striking yet elegant contrast throughout the interior. A choice of 88 piano wood veneers encourages further personalisation. “Diamond in Diamond” quilting on the seats, door trim and rear side panels consists of nearly 400,000 stitches, with each diamond containing exactly 712 individual stitches. Of course, these are also available in a spectrum of colored wires.

On the outside, a range of exclusive exterior design features sets the Continental GT Mulliner apart from the rest of the family. At the front, the new ‘Double Diamond’ matrix grille defines Mulliner’s new signature style, complemented by matching front fender vents in the same silver-black design and Mulliner branding. All of these features are available in bright chrome or the more contemporary gloss black look of the Mulliner Blackline specification. Approaching and opening either door reveals the other Mulliner design features: mirror caps in satin silver or black with Mulliner Welcome Lamps below and illuminated door sills with Mulliner text.

The GT family now includes a range of models, each with a different accent, to make customer choice easier. The Azure range is for those who prioritize well-being and comfort on board, while customers who want to focus on driving pleasure can choose the new V8-powered GT S. The W12-powered Speed goes one step further and is the pure driver’s car, delivering exceptional dynamic performance and no cost for big touring power. Above all is the Mulliner.

The new GT Mulliner W12 will be on display at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it takes to the hill with three members of the new S-series. In addition to these modern hillside road products, the first car in Bentley’s Blower Continuation Series will be Blower Car Zero.

Physics-bending performance

The Continental GT Mulliner W12 features an upgraded version of Bentley’s acclaimed 6.0-litre W12 TSI engine, delivering 659 hp (650 hp) – a 4 percent increase from 24 hp over the standard W12 model – while maintaining an extraordinary 900 Nm (664 lb.ft) of torque.

With exceptional handling, this results in a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h) and 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds), a reduction of 0.1 seconds. A combination of four chassis technologies gives the new Mulliner model a new level of agility, performance and ride quality.

Bentley Dynamic Ride and three-chamber active air suspension with adaptive damping play a key role in the balance of the car and provide a formidable foundation to build on. The optional and newly developed carbon ceramic brakes, variable electronic stability control, four-wheel steering and an electronic differential lock further enhance agility and performance.

The combination of the new systems delivers Bentley’s philosophy that a vehicle should feel progressive and safe, yet be dynamic. To achieve this philosophy in BENTLEY and COMFORT modes, the overall grip between the front and rear wheels has been balanced, while in SPORT this mode is calibrated with a more rearward torque distribution in all driving scenarios.

The best of both worlds

Whether traveling across continents or over mountain passes, Bentley’s three-chamber active air suspension with adaptive damping and Bentley Dynamic Ride provides control and comfort in abundance. The 48V active anti-roll control system was originally developed on the Bentayga and the third generation Continental GT and has now been fine-tuned even further with the knowledge and learning since the system’s introduction.

This innovative system features powerful electric motors in each stabilizer bar to counteract body roll. In their firmest position, the engines can deliver 1300 Nm in 0.3 seconds to counteract cornering forces and keep the body level.

Dynamic power

The electronic four-wheel steering enhances the dynamic character of the Continental GT Mulliner W12 in each of the driving modes. This is even more apparent in SPORT mode, as the steering, combined with Bentley Dynamic Ride and the electronic differential lock, provides a level of maneuverability unlike any other Bentley road car, using up to 4° steering lock on the rear wheels.

At low and medium speeds, the GT Mulliner’s rear wheels are steered in the opposite direction to the front wheels to facilitate a quick change of direction, noticeably increasing the feeling of agility. The steering feels sharper and with a faster ratio, and a proportional increase in steering feel provides even more driver confidence. At high speeds, the rear wheels steer in the same direction as the front wheels to improve stability.

The eLSD enables true active torque vectoring across the rear axle, which is then refined with torque vectoring through braking systems. Together, these technologies improve turn-in and provide exceptional cornering traction – and, of course, allow the avid driver to create skid angles and balance the car on the accelerator pedal.

Unparalleled luxury and attention to detail

The interior of the Continental GT Mulliner is characterized by luxury and offers a level of choice and customization that only Mulliner can offer.
A customer can of course choose their own set of colors or specify the cab colors and materials from the full range of Bentley skin colours, veneers and stitching.

The Mulliner Driving Specification is fitted as standard, bringing ‘Diamond in Diamond’ stitching to the seats, door trim and rear side panels, now with both contrast and accent stitching running through the diamond design.

It takes nearly 400,000 stitches to deliver this quilting through the cabin of the car, with each diamond containing exactly 712 individual stitches – each precisely aligned to point to the center of the diamond it creates. Developing the embroidery process to realize this process alone took 18 months.

The seats themselves are finished with embroidered Mulliner logos. The floor mats are lined with micro-piping to match the rest of the interior color theme and chrome Bentley ‘B’ retention caps exemplify the fine detail that separates the Continental GT Mulliner.

The cab roof is trimmed over its full length with indented skin, or smooth skin to match the seatbacks if the solid glass roof is chosen.

The center console is clad in a unique diamond-milled engineering finish that uses precision machining to form a perfect pattern of facets, flanked on either side by Grand Black walnut veneer with chrome overlays. A unique Breitling clock sits in the center of the console, while the passenger-side dashboard is finished with a silhouette of the car’s exterior profile and the Mulliner logo. The veneer flows into the doors, where it is completed by a discreet Bentley ‘B’ motif.

For the driver, the brushed metal finish of the Breitling clock is carried through from the physical world to the digital one, with a unique design to the main gauges of the LED main instrument cluster, where careful skeuomorphic design and the application of digital textures make the virtual dials look like. like real metal.

The Continental GT Mulliner W12 is truly the ultimate combination of craftsmanship and performance. Available as a coupe and convertible, the car is the ultimate definition of everything Bentley knows about making the best Grand Tourers in the world. For those who want the luxury and comfort of a Mulliner model but with the character of a V8, the Continental GT Mulliner V8 remains available.
