It is not mandatory that a film that has turned out to be a box-office hit get the same response on the OTT platform.
Bollywood has finally hit the jackpot with the Kartik Aaryan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The film earned 180 crores and is now chasing the 200 crore net at the box office which is unprecedented. The film was released on Netflix last week, but the response from the digital audience has been the exact opposite of the theatrical audience.
Those who have seen BB2 on Netflix are slamming the film on social media, saying the film doesn’t have enough horror, nor does it have shivering comedy. Other than Kiara Advani’s glamor and Tabu’s performance in the climax, there is nothing special about the film. Many also say that the main plot of the film was copied from Priyamani’s flop film Charulatha.
Another film that was a huge success at the box office but received lukewarm reception on the digital platform is Sivakarthikeyan’s Don. The OTT audience simply cannot connect to the comedy or emotions shown in the film, as the theatrical audience can.
