Biden evacuated after plane flies home over beach, US says 'no attack'

Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden later returned to their hometowns, the official said.

United States of America: Rehoboth Beach:

A small private plane accidentally flew into restricted airspace over President Joe Biden’s beach house on Saturday, prompting his intelligence agency to briefly move him and the first lady to a safe location, the White House said.

“The President and the First Lady are safe and there has been no attack,” a White House official said of the incident in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, about 200 km (120 miles) east of Washington.

Biden and First Lady Jill Biden later returned to their hometowns, the official said.

The Secret Service, tasked with protecting the president, said the plane accidentally entered a secure area and was “escorted immediately.”

Among other errors, that pilot was not on the correct radio channel and “did not follow published flight guidance,” said Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

“The United States Secret Service will interview the pilot,” he added.
