Is Bollywood ready? Well, Karan Johar called this assumption “nonsense and crap” and emphasized how good movies will work despite the negativity on social media around them. Movies like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 proved the same, but still people need a reminder. While the SM world would lead you to believe it’s big bad B’wood, it isn’t.

There is not a single movie release of the end of Bollywood that is predicted to be a ‘certain hit’. Prithviraj, Shamshera’s hype was always mixed and they were charged with some cynical elements. Akshay Kumar’s lack of effort for Prithviraj, Karan Malhotra who came up with his first original story in Shamshera has been questioned by many.

They just dispelled the doubt of being bad movies and met the desired fate at the box office. But the real ‘bad time’ for Bollywood starts when films like Brahmastra, Laal Singh Chaddha, Pathaan and Tiger 3 start to flop. But we don’t think it will be necessary as Bollywood hasn’t unloaded any of its ‘Khan’tastic moves’ yet.

Starting with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, despite all the negativity, this one seems like a guaranteed winner for exhibitors for more reasons than one. As a family entertainer, we’ve seen director Advait Chandan stir up emotions in Secret Superstar and it will certainly come in handy here.

The story of the OG Forrest Gump has the scope to be more “desecrated” than any other story in the West (or anywhere else in the world). No one but Aamir Khan (& Pritam in the music department) could capture this story better in Bollywood. There are many pluses and few minuses that the audience could have regarding Aamir’s overly expressive acting in the trailer, but that might be justified after seeing the entire movie.

Pathaan & Jawan by Shah Rukh Khan are two of those movies that you know in advance that they won’t be blockbusters in any case. Pathaan with the YRF factor (which had actually faded a bit with Samrat Prithviraj, Shamshera) plus John Abraham’s casting coup, Deepika Padukone, has a lot of value on its own. Plus Siddharth Anand, after the huge success of War (and some lessons learned from Bang Bang), seems like a perfect person to know how stylish he has to be to draw the masses to movie theaters.

Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 is yet another loaded offering from Bollywood just waiting to break some big box office records. Continuing the ‘maalaamal’ legacy set by Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai and Salman Khan & YRF camp will fuel Pathaan’s success by officially teasing his spy universe. By then we would have seen Salman’s cameo in Pathaan, which had everyone intrigued by this one.

If this is a battleground for the people who say ‘Bollywood has fallen!’, let’s not forget that the best players haven’t even fired a bullet yet. To make it filmy(er): “Khanon Ka Daav Abhi Baaki Hai Mere Dost!” So let’s put the “Bollywood is over” discussion aside, grab some popcorn and enjoy the best of cinema yet to be offered.
