Bombay (Maharashtra) [India]July 31 (ANI): Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor actor ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is trending again on Twitter and not for all the right reasons.
Netizens use the hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha on Twitter and ask people not to watch the film.
Apparently, some Twitter users have searched the archives and dug up and distributed Aamir’s controversial “India’s growing intolerance” statement on the microblogging site. Some of Kareena’s controversial past statements have also surfaced online.
Well, this isn’t the first time netizens have expressed their anger over the upcoming movie. Earlier, when the film’s makers released the trailer in May, the same hashtag was trending.
Speaking of the controversial statement in question, Aamir Khan said in an interview in 2015: “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill will”. His wife Kiran Rao also made headlines for considering leaving the country for the safety of their children.
Netizens have called him “Anti-Hindu” and “Anti-National” as they circulated his quote and video from the old interview, accompanied by the hashtag #LaalSinghChaddha.
