A court in Chandigarh has notified Miss Universe Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu in a case brought by actress Upasana Singh. The Junior Division civil judge has ordered Harnaaz Kaur to submit her response by September 7, 2022. Upasana Singh is known for playing the character ‘Bua’ in ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.

Upasana Singh had filed a civil suit on August 4, claiming damages of Rs 1 crore from Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu for alleged breach of contract and breach of her obligations in terms of agreement between them.

Upasana Singh said that in the year 2020, she signed Harnaaz Sandhu as the lead artist under her name Santosh Entertainment Studio LLP in a Punjabi feature film “Bai Ji Kuttange”.

Upasana claimed that through an agreement signed on December 13, 2020, it was specifically agreed between the two parties that the artist will make himself available during the promotional activities of the film, both by attending the events in person and virtually.

Upasana claimed that shortly after Harnaaz was crowned Miss Universe 2021 and gained world recognition, her behavior changed. She alleged that Harnaaz Sandhu has evaded all her professional and contractual obligations by completely ignoring all communications to her by the production house and all other stakeholders involved. She didn’t even answer any of the messages or any of the emails sent to her.

As a result of such behavior on the part of Miss Universe, the film lost its distributors, its release date was compromised and eventually the release date was postponed from May 27, 2022 to August 19, 2022.

Upasana Singh claimed that she suffered huge financial losses due to her behavior. Upasana said she has already performed her part of the contract by paying the full fee of Rs 1 lakh to the defendant as per the agreement.
