Less than two weeks after BTS announced they would be taking some time off to focus on solo projects, Jungkook single-handedly began teaming up with Charlie Puth for the upbeat new single “Left and Right,” out first on Friday ( June 24) arrived ).
“Memories follow me left and right / I can feel you here / I can feel you here / You occupy every corner of my mind”, Puth and the BTS singer sing over a poppy beat in the chorus of the twos half-minute track.
The duo also promised a colorful music video to come and released a teaser on Thursday for the clip that shows Puth and the youngest BTS member pining for a love from the past together and in solo shots. Last week, Puth promised that he would drop the partnership with Jungkook on June 24 if he collected 500,000 pre-saves for the song – and it was clear that ARMY came through.
“Left and Right” is Puth’s third track of 2022, leading up to his third solo album, simply titled Charlie, which will be released this year through Atlantic. The pop singer/songwriter released “Light Switch” in January, which has so far peaked at number 27 on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by “That’s Hilarious” in April.
BTS shocked fans on June 14 with the announcement that they would be taking a break to work on solo projects, but Jungkook quickly clarified for the concerned ARMY that they were not breaking up. In a livestream video, Jungkook told viewers – according to a representative – that while the guys will indeed be spending time on their own projects, they won’t stop working together as a team and not break up.
