Chelsea have offered Brighton & Hove Albion over £50million for left-back Marc Cucurella and are also in direct talks with Barcelona to sign midfielder Frenkie de Jong. the athletic understands.
Brighton have not accepted the offer for Cucurella as they seek a higher fee and a replacement, with Chelsea’s Levi Colwill their preferred candidate in what would likely be a separate transaction.
At Stamford Bridge, there is confidence that a deal for Spain international Cucurella will be finalized after negotiations on Tuesday evening. There are already personal agreements with the 24-year-old.
Cucurella was also a target for Manchester City, but the reigning Premier League champions were unwilling to live up to Brighton’s valuation.

Chelsea are also hoping to beat another player’s domestic rival after they match Manchester United in the match to recruit Dutch playmaker De Jong.
They are speaking to Barcelona about the 25-year-old and are optimistic about a deal being struck.
United previously reached a club-to-club deal of €85 million for De Jong, but the Netherlands international has not yet made a decision.
Chelsea have already bolstered their squad this summer by signing Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling, while they will also sign Aston Villa’s midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka and Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina.
