The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the largest movie franchise in history. As of June 2022, it will consist of 28 interconnected films (with Thor: Love and Thunder as the 29th) and seven web series. In total, all MCU movies have made more than $25 billion to date. But Christian Bale admitted he knew nothing about it until last year when he signed up to play the antagonist in the Taika Waititi directorial.

Speaking to Total Film, the Oscar winner said: “That never crossed my mind at all. I read that and people said, ‘Oh, look at this! He went to the MCU!’ And I’d go, ‘What have I done? I didn’t enter shit, thank you very much.’ I’m like, ‘The MCU?’ I had to ask what that was.”

In the comics, Christian’s character Gorr is almost completely naked, and the actor said he was afraid director Taika Waititi would ask the same of him in the live-action adaptation. He said, “I made the mistake of Googling it and, oh no! [In the comics] he runs around in a G-string all the time. And I thought, ‘They don’t have the right man for that!’ And then Taika quickly dispelled all notions of running around in there.”

Thor: Love and Thunder will be released in India on July 7, a day before its worldwide release. The film is part of Phase 4 of the MCU. Returning as the titular God of Thunder, Chris Hemsworth has hinted that this could be his last Marvel movie.
