Tejaswin Shankar made history with India’s first-ever medal in the high jump when the Indian contingent added five medals, one silver and four bronze, on Day 6, bringing the total to 18 (5 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze).

Shankar took the bronze medal to end the day on a high note, while squash star Saurav Ghosal delivered a stunning performance as India won its first bronze in singles squash at the Games.

Wrestlers Lovepreet Singh and Gurdeep Singh took bronze medals in their respective categories, with both men’s and women’s hockey teams beating Canada. In cricket, the Indian women dominated Barbados with a 100-run victory to secure a place in the semi-finals.
