Dean Henderson: Nottingham Forest agree deal with Manchester United for season-long loan

Nottingham Forest have signed a lease for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson. the athletic understands.

The loan move is subject to a medical. Forest would pay Henderson’s full salary over the course of his season-long loan.

Forest is to replace Brice Samba, who has told them he will not sign a new contract with the club and wants to leave this summer. His contract expires next summer. Samba is expected to join Lens, provided they can agree a fee with Forest.

Henderson would fill in for Samba, who last season racked up 45 appearances across all competitions and was an integral part of his squad that reached the English top division for the first time since 1999.

The 25-year-old has already played at the highest level for Sheffield United during a loan spell there in 2019-20. However, he has struggled to get playing time since returning to United, failing to displace first-choice goalkeeper David De Gea.

Now he hopes to settle in the newly promoted Forest.
