Dobaaraa revolves around a woman who tries to save the life of a boy who is indirectly involved in a murder that took place two decades ago. How the woman and the boy come into contact with each other through a bizarre television set is the crux of the film.
The trailer for Dobaaraa shows how Taapsee, her husband and their daughter move to a new house. The family soon learns that in the house next door to theirs, a little boy died in a thunderstorm 26 years ago. Next, Taapsee’s character is seen communicating with that same young boy. While the trailer reveals that Dobaaraa tells the story of how Taapsee’s character changes the past during a thunderstorm and that in turn changes her present, it also teases exciting theories about time travel.
Dobaaraa is the Hindi adaptation of the Spanish thriller Mirage, which was released in 2018. The project marks the reunion of Anurag Kashyap and Taapsee after Manmarziyaan. Saswata Chatterjee, among others, plays a crucial role in the film. Dobaaraa will premiere at Melbourne’s Indian Film Festival on August 12, before being released in India.
Taapsee was recently seen in Shabaash Mithu. The sports biopic was directed by Srijit Mukherji and produced by Viacom18 Studios. Based on the life of former Test and ODI captain of India’s national cricket team, Mithali Raj, the film stars Taapsee in the titular role. The film did not perform well at the box office. Taapsee’s upcoming projects include Raj Kumar Hirani’s next film Dunki starring Shah Rukh.
