The Asus Zenfone 9 is a compact flagship with the best specs in its class, but does it come with a charger in the box or do you have to buy one?
The Asus Zenfone 9 is one of the better compact flagships on the market, but is there a charger in the box? This question didn’t come up a few years ago, with all the new smartphone purchases that come with a charger in the box. However, in 2020, Apple decided to remove the charger from its latest iPhone, and without blinking, other companies quickly followed suit.
Samsung took the trend to the next level when it stopped supplying chargers with the latest Galaxy S8 tablets and a few entry-level smartphones as well. By contrast, Apple still ships a charger with some of its other devices, including the entry-level iPad (9th generation), which costs $329. With the Zenfone 9, Asus competes with both Apple and Samsung in the flagship segment.
Fortunately, Asus has not yet adopted the no-charging trend. In a market where manufacturers don’t offer a free charger, Asus continues to do so. The company’s older releases — including the Zenfone 8, ROG Phone 5, and the ROG Phone 6 series — all came with a fast charger, and so does the Zenfone 9. Regardless of where the smartphone is purchased or in what color, the Asus Zenfone 9 comes with a free charger in the box, saving buyers a few bucks. In fact, some buyers may be surprised to see the number of accessories they get when they buy the Zenfone 9.
What else do you get in the Zenfone 9 box
As stated on the company’s official website, Asus packs a 30W power adapter and a USB-C to USB-C cable in the box with the Zenfone 9. For reference, Apple currently charges $39 for a 30W USB C, while Samsung charges $29.99 for a 35W Duo power adapter, so this helps save on the overall cost. In addition, buyers of the Zenfone 9 also get a free case for their device, adding even more value to the overall deal. Unsurprisingly, a SIM eject tool and some guides are also included in the box.
Although the Asus Zenfone 9 costs $699, it justifies the price by its performance and features. The Zenfone 9 has a smooth 120Hz AMOLED display and a dual rear camera. As one of the first smartphones to feature the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, the Zenfone 9 competes with flagships from Apple, Samsung and Google, including the iPhone 13, Galaxy S22 and Pixel 6 series. However, with the Asus Zenfone 9users don’t have to spend about $50 above the cost of the smartphone to buy essential accessories.
