The study found that every hour of sitting in the 60s and 70s could increase the risk of stroke by 14 percent. This can even refer to the free time one spends in the living room or while working tirelessly at a desk job or studying 24 hours a day.

In addition, the study found that people who exercised as little as 13 hours a day were 44 percent more likely to have a stroke than those who spent less than 11 hours sedentary. And the best way to reverse this effect is to get more exercise.

The study concluded that just 25 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise can reduce the risk of stroke by 40 percent. That means cycling or brisk walking. This can lower the risk of fat buildup in the arteries, thus lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease.
