Fast Charging & Battery Specs Explained

The OnePlus 10T is coming to the United States and will pack super-fast charging technology that will give it an edge over the competition.

The OnePlus 10T will be announced on August 3, and ahead of the launch, OnePlus has revealed key details about the phone’s battery and charging specs. Fast charging has been one of the top features of OnePlus smartphones for years. Back in 2016 when it released the OnePlus 3, one of the selling points of the phone was its fast charging technology.

OnePlus even created the slogan “A day of electricity in half an hourbased on feature. This meant owners could charge their device for half an hour and get enough to last for a day. Since then, OnePlus has continued to improve the fast charging technology available on its phones, especially the flagships and upper mid-range models The OnePlus Ace and the OnePlus 10R are currently the fastest charging OnePlus smartphones, as they both support 150W fast charging.

In typical OnePlus fashion, the manufacturer has revealed a handful of details about its upcoming phone. A forum post revealed that the OnePlus 10T would have a battery capacity of 4800 mAh, which is a bit smaller than the 5000 mAh battery of the OnePlus 10 Pro. In addition, the North American version of the phone supports 125W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition fast charging, allowing owners to charge the smartphone from empty to 100 percent in just 20 minutes. That’s significantly faster than the OnePlus 10 Pro, which has a 5000mAh battery and supports 80W fast charging. However, the North American phone model supports 65W fast charging, no thanks to a power limitation.

The international version charges faster

The OnePlus 10T supports 125W fast charging in the US

At 125W, the OnePlus 10T will be one of the fastest charging smartphones sold in the United States. Competing devices like the Galaxy S22 Ultra and ROG Phone 6 Pro support 45W and 65W fast charging respectively, which pales in comparison to what the OnePlus 10T offers. In addition, the phone comes with a 160W SUPERVOOC charger and a USB-C charging cable. The power adapter supports Power Delivery (PD), allowing it to be used to charge other devices, such as laptops that support USB PD.

Like the OnePlus 10 Pro, the OnePlus 10T gets an international version that charges slightly faster. This variant supports 150W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition fast charging. There’s no significant difference, though, as OnePlus says the international version is fully charged from 1 to 100 percent in just 19 minutes, a minute shorter than the North American version on a full charge. OnePlus has explained that the difference is due to the 150W SUPERVOOC Endurance Edition technology with support for only 220V and above, which prevents it from working in the US, where outlets have 110V or 120V. However, when North American users use their phones in regions that support 220V, they can charge with 150W.

Security is a big concern regarding fast charging and OnePlus seems to have those basics covered. The manufacturer says a patented technology called the “Battery Health Engine” powers two functions that extend battery life and keep the device safe. One is ‘Smart Battery Health Algorithm’ which tracks and regulates the maximum charge current and ensures that it stays within a safe range, and the other is ‘Battery Healing Technology’ which continuously repairs the electrodes during charging cycles. OnePlus claims that combining the two should help the phone retain up to 80 percent of its original capacity after 1600 charge cycles, which equates to about four years of use. The OnePlus 10T also has a charging chip that monitors input current and voltage, 13 temperature sensors, and a 128-bit encryption algorithm that ensures that only official SUPERVOOC chargers and cables can charge the device at the maximum supported speeds. The OnePlus 10T will also come with a new version of OxygenOS which should have a battery tool.
