ford: Ford’s present and former workers in India are on the job look out

Now that the US-based Ford Motor Company has decided to close its nearby Maraimalainagar car factory, many of the Ford group’s employees are looking for jobs in India.

“Now that Ford has decided to close its factory in Maraimalainagar, employees may be looking for a job,” an employee of Ford India Private Ltd told IANS.

The workers are negotiating a better severance package with Ford India.

In addition to the car plant, Ford also has a global technology and business center in India.

In September 2021, Ford India announced its decision to phase out vehicle assembly at Sanand in Gujarat by Q4 2021 and vehicle and engine production in Chennai by Q2 2022.

Ford India has four factories in the country: car and motorcycle plants in Chennai and Sanand.

The workers at the Maraimalainagar plant are also depressed at being locked out as Ford India’s Gujarat plant and its employees will be taken over by

subsidiary Tata Passenger Electric Mobility.

“According to our jobseeker activity survey, 62.5 percent of Ford employees have been actively looking for a job in the past week,” said Aditya Narayan Mishra, president and CEO of CIEL HR Services, a human resource recruitment firm. resources. told IANS.

About two percent of former Ford employees were able to find a job in the past year. Some of them have found jobs in the automotive sector and some in the IT services sector focusing on the automotive sector, he added.

He said the data can be inferred from the changes, updates made online to the resumes of the people registered with CIEL HR.

Companies such as Tata Motors, MG Motors and greenfield projects such as Triton have evaluated these candidates, but demand is not enough to accommodate all job seekers, Mishra said.
