Ghana has not recorded any Ebola case: Official

Accra, June 23 (IANS) Ghana has not recorded any cases of an Ebola outbreak, a senior health official said.

Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, director-general of the Ghana Health Service, made the statement Wednesday in response to media reports of an Ebola outbreak in northern Ghana.

Addressing the media, he saw his outfit perform a simulation exercise to test whether they were prepared for such health emergencies, the Xinhua news agency reported.

“I am not aware that we picked up an Ebola case in the northern region. What I can say is that we did a simulation exercise on the Ebola virus disease in the public health emergency surgery center,” he added.

In 2014, an Ebola outbreak occurred in West Africa, mainly in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
