Hinduja Group: Ashok Leyland unveils eight-wheel truck AVTR 2620

Hinduja Group’s flagship company said Thursday it has unveiled its first eight-wheel truck — AVTR 2620 — making the company the only player with a full range of trucks based on lift axle technology.

The new product would provide customers with excellent operational flexibility to choose the option based on their load, best-in-class benefits in total operating costs, the company said in a statement.

“With the launch of AVTR 2620, Ashok Leyland becomes the first and only player in the country to offer a full range of trucks based on lifting axle technology, from gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 25.5 to 47.5 tons,” the company said.

The new product can be used as a 25.5-ton truck with a lift axle down and as a 18.5-ton GVW truck with a lift axle up, offering lower fuel and operating costs under light load conditions, it said.

“Ashok Leyland has a history of introducing products that have disrupted the commercial vehicle industry. AVTR 2620 with its unique lift axle configuration offers a higher Total Cost of Operation (TCO) benefit to our customers operating in ec-om, parcel and tanker,” company, Head-Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle, said Sanjeev Kumar.

“AVTR 2620 is a testament to Ashok Leyland’s technological prudence and our commitment to provide customers with better logistics solutions…” he said.

Built on the AVTR modular truck platform, the truck offers flexibility with multiple cabs and is equipped with options. The loading span ranges from 24 feet to 32 feet, among other things, the statement said.
