Hyundai’s new entry-level MPV – Stargazer – is expected to make its global debut soon, and here we’ve rounded up everything we know about it
South Korean auto giant Hyundai is gearing up to soon introduce a new entry-level MPV to its international lineup, dubbed ‘Stargazer’. Hyundai Stargazer was recently teased for the Indonesian market and is expected to launch there soon, followed later by a few other markets.
Here we’ve rounded up everything you need to know about the upcoming Hyundai Stargazer MPV.
1. Exterior design
The upcoming Hyundai Stargazer will have a sleek and futuristic design, reminiscent of its older sibling, Hyundai Staria. As evidenced by the teaser and spy photos, the new Stargazer will feature an LED DRL on the hood that runs horizontally across the engine. It also gets a wide grille at the front, flanked by LED headlights. It also gets stylish alloy wheels, along with an H-shaped LED taillight over the tailgate.
2. Interior Design and Features
The interior of the MPV has not yet been revealed. However, thanks to blurry spy photos, we know that the dashboard design will draw inspiration from a few existing Hyundai models, such as i20 and Grand i10 Nios. The MPV is expected to be available in 6 and 7 seat configurations.
Numerous features and equipment are likely to be offered, including a large touchscreen infotainment system, BlueLink connected system, automatic climate control, etc. Some reports suggest Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) will also be available, such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Change Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, etc.
3. Powertrain Options
The upcoming Hyundai Stargazer is expected to be powered by a 1.5-liter NA petrol engine. A 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine should also be available in certain markets. Both manual and automatic transmission choices should also be available.
4. Global Debut
According to speculation, Hyundai Stargazer will make its global debut in July or August of this year. The MPV will first go on sale in the Indonesian market, competing with Suzuki Ertiga, Mitsubishi Xpander, Toyota Rush, etc.
5. Expected launch in India
Hyundai Stargazer is also expected to launch in the Indian market, although the manufacturer has not released any official word on this. The MPV could make its way to our shores early next year. When it launches here, it will rival Maruti Ertiga/XL6 and Kia Carens.
