India will host South Africa for a five-match series of Twenty20 International (T20I), which begins on Thursday. The first match of the series will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Both teams have worked hard to prepare for the first game. But some players are feeling the heat in Delhi with the mercury crossing the 45-degree mark in six places in the city on Monday. South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi tweeted regarding the temperature in Delhi, quipped that it’s “Just a cool 42 degrees outside..not hot at all lol”.

Commenting on Shamsi’s tweet, Mazher Arshad, a cricket statistician according to his Twitter bio, said it was 43 degrees in Lahore, to which the South African cricketer wrote: “How do people survive in this heat”.

India will not compete against the heroes Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the T20I series against South Africa. Both are equipped, with KL Rahul given the responsibility to lead the team.

The hosts will also be without star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Youngsters like Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, who made an impression in the recently concluded IPL, have been included in the roster for the series.

Veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has also made his way back into the squad after some strong performances for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

The Proteas had arrived in the national capital on June 2 and the party has been preparing ever since. The Indian contingent had a break after the intense Indian Premier League (IPL), and the squad gathered in Delhi on Sunday and finally started training on Monday.
