India Tour of England: Rahul Dravid, Rishabh, Shreyas leave for England, Mayank on standby: Follow Live

India Tour of England – Dravid, Pant, Iyer leaves for England: Team India management has decided not to add Mayank Agarwal to the main team. The BCCI wanted to add Mayank to replace KL Rahul. But with Shubman Gill already in place as opener, the team leadership doesn’t see it as a requirement to add him to the main squad. The second group, made up of Coach Dravid, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer, left Bengaluru for the UK today. Follow India vs England Live Updates on InsideSport.IN.

Head coach Rahul Dravid, vice-captain Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer are on the run. They will be teaming up with the rest of the team in the UK ahead of the warm-up match against Leicestershire which starts on June 24.

“Mayank remains on standby. Since it’s a one-time test, team management doesn’t see the need to add a player and then send him home. But if there is an injury, he will be sent to England.” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant left for the UK in the early hours of Monday morning. The former shared a photo of him and Pant traveling together during the flight.

According to people close to the development, Mayank has already been asked to stand by and prepare for red ball cricket alone. Given his recent appearance in the quarter-finals of the Karnataka Ranji Trophy, he is still fresh.

“Mayank will continue to practice in Bangalore. Should the team need him as injury cover, he will be sent to England. He is not traveling with the team for the time being. If we had played more than one test, Mayank would have traveled with the squad,” added the official.
