Indian cyclist Meenakshi fell and was run over by one of her rivals during the women’s 10km scratch race at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The horror incident saw Meenakshi fall off her bike before sliding down the couch in the bend. New Zealand’s Bryony Botha was also hit by the crash when her bike ran over Meenakshi and Botha also fell from her bike. Shortly after the accident, medics arrived on the scene and both riders were taken out of the race. Meenakshi was taken away on a stretcher.

The race also involved England’s Laura Kenny, who led the pack before the race was halted.
England’s Laura Kenny won the gold in the event. A video of Meenakshi’s crash has gone viral on social media.
This is the second crash in two days at Lee Valley Velo Park after England’s Matt Walls fell from his bike.
