Director Lokesh Kanagaraj and veteran actor Kamal Haasan with the Lexus ES 300h
If you follow South Indian cinema even from a distance, you know how big a spectacle the film Vikram has become. Veteran actor Kamal Haasan is the lead actor in the film while the film was directed by acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj of Tamil cinema. The multilingual film was widely appreciated by audiences across India and became an instant success. Kamal Haasan, who is also the producer of the film, recently donated a brand new Lexus ES 300h luxury sedan to director Lokesh to show his appreciation.
Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is himself a big fan of Kamal Haasan, shared on social media a photo of him taking delivery of the latter’s car. In his Twitter post, he wrote – “Thank you so much Aandavarey @ikamalhaasan” – thanking Kamal for his gesture and calling him ‘Aandavarey’, which means ‘God’.

The Lexus ES 300h is the entry-level model from the Toyota-owned luxury car maker, and it’s a strong hybrid sedan. The facelifted version of the car went on sale in India last year, in October 2021, and is offered in two variants: Exquisite and Luxury, priced at ₹59.50 lakh and ₹65.60 lakh (ex-showroom , India). And we believe it is the last one that Kamal gifted to Lokesh.
The ES 300h is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine that comes in conjunction with a 240-volt electric unit, making it a hybrid powertrain. The combined power of this system is 214 hp, while the maximum torque of the engine alone is 221 Nm. The engine is mated to an automatic electronic continuously variable transmission or E-CVT.
Lokesh Kanagaraj is known for several successful films like Maanagaram, Kaithi and Master, the latter two became huge commercial successes. His latest release Vikram is by far his most successful film, collecting over ₹200 crore from the box office in just 5 days. Next, Kanagaraj is expected to direct a self-titled film starring his previous film master, actor Vijay, while Kamal Haasan works on his next venture. The actor-director duo are also expected to reunite later for Vikram’s sequel, which will also star Suriya, Karthi and Fahad Faasil.
