Kangana Ranaut claims Aamir Khan is behind the boycott Laal Singh Chaddha trend | Bollywood

Kangana Ranaut has claimed that Aamir Khan himself orchestrated the trend around boycotting his upcoming film Laal Singh Chaddha. The film is an official Hindi remake of the 1994 Hollywood movie Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks. It is currently facing boycott calls on social media. Kangana shared a comment on her Instagram Stories, writing: “I think all the negativity surrounding the upcoming release Laal Singh Chadda has been expertly curated by mastermind Aamir Khan Ji himself. No Hindi movies have worked this year (barring one exception to a comedic sequel) “Only Southern movies that are deeply rooted in Indian culture or have worked with a local flavor. A Hollywood remake wouldn’t have worked anyway.” Very few Hindi films have done wonders at the box office this year, including Bhool Bhulaiyya 2, a sequel to Akshay Kumar starrer Bhool Bhulaiyya.Other Bollywood blockbusters this year include The Kashmir Files and Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Kangana added in her note: “But now they will call India intolerant, Hindi movies need to understand the pulse of the audience, it’s not about being a Hindu or Muslim. Even after Aamir Khan made ji Hinduphobic PK or Calling India intolerant, he gave the biggest hits of his life. Please stop talking about religion or ideology. It takes away from their bad acting and bad movies.”

The film reunites Aamir with Kareena Kapoor Khan for their third film together – they previously starred in Talaash and 3 Idiots. Laal Singh Chaddha is directed by Advait Chauhan and also stars Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in key roles.

Weeks before the film’s release on August 11, internet users pushed for a boycott of the film using the hashtag #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha. Commenting on the trends, Aamir told ANI on Monday: “That boycott Bollywood … Boycott Aamir Khan … Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha … I also feel sad because many people who say this in their hearts believe that I am someone who does not love India … In their hearts they believe that … And that is not true at all. I really love the country.”
