Thanks to his latest finesse against South Africa in the recently concluded T20I series, Dinesh Karthik made a huge jump from 108 places to 87th in the latest ICC T20 batting ranking.
Karthik entered the Indian team after a brilliant IPL season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore, scoring 330 runs in 16 games with a strike rate of 183.33.
The 37-year-old was a key driver of India’s comeback in the five-game T20I series after losing the first two games. The goalkeeper batter scored 55 from 27 balls and was the player of the match as India defeated South Africa by 82 runs.

Ishan Kishan, who was the highest scorer in the series with 206 runs and a strike rate of almost 150, also jumped in the standings to take sixth in the standings. This is the 23-year-old’s first time in the top 10 of the ICC rankings and is the only Indian player to be in the top 10.
Kishan closed the series with two half-centuries against South Africa and was the leading points scorer with 206 runs at an average of 41. That form catapulted the left-hander one spot to sixth on the latest T20 batting table. Pakistani captain Babar Azam retained the top spot in the T20 ranking.
Among the bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal was the biggest mover in the T20 ranking. The spinner jumped three places to 23rd after taking six wickets in the South African series.
Josh Hazlewood maintained his position as the top-ranked T20 bowler, while Afghan spinner Rashid Khan (joint third) and Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga (sixth) have both moved up a place in the top 10.
Ravindra Jadeja, who is currently in the UK for India’s one-off Test against England in Edgbaston, maintained his top spot in the list of Test all-rounders with 385 rating points. Bangladesh captain Shakib al Hasan is next to him with 346 rating points.
Other Indians in the top 10 in Test rankings include former India captain Virat Kohli (742), who retained 10th in the batting chart, while seasoned off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (850) and pace javelin Jasprit Bumrah (830) ) the second and third position respectively on the bowling list. Australian skipper Pat Cummins tops the Test bowlers list with 901 rating points.
