KL Rahul Misses Entire T20I Series Against West Indies: Reports: KL Rahul, who had tested covid positive on July 21, will reportedly miss the entire T20I leg of the West Indian tour, which starts on July 29, due to recovery from infection and mandatory protocols.
The Indian opener is currently at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore undergoing rehabilitation and recovery from covid. Rahul underwent sports hernia surgery in Germany at the end of June.
Recently, the BCCI shared a video on its social media accounts of the T20I serialized Indian players. As the likes of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Dinesh Karthik joined the Indian ODI squad in Trinidad, fans were curious to see where Rahul was.
“It was assumed that he was a doubter for the T20I stage of the West India tour, even if he returned the two mandatory negative tests. Depending on the outcome of his cardiovascular tests, Rahul could have qualified for the US leg of the West Indian T20Is, on August 6 and 7. But now it seems certain that he will skip the tour altogether and instead focus on the Zimbabwe ODIs, which are part of the World Cup Super League,” the report said on ESPNcricinfo.
Notably, Rahul, who led Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Tata IPL 2022, has been out of cricket action since the IPL ended. KL Rahul was named skipper of India’s T20I squad for the home series against South Africa, but he missed the series due to his injury.
Rahul is expected to make a comeback on India’s ODI Zimbabwe tour in August.

The ODI series will be part of the ICC ODI World Cup Super League, which will later determine the qualifying teams for the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. As the host, India automatically qualifies for the tournament.
