Koffee With Karan 7: Aamir Khan on ex-wives Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta - 'We get together once a week'

Aamir Khan, who attended Karan Johar .’s chat show Coffee With Karan 7 of Laal Singh Chaddha co-star Kareena Kapoor, also spoke about his family during the show. About his relationship with ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, the actor said: “We all get together once a week, no matter how busy we are. There is a lot of genuine care, love and respect for each other.” Aamir Khan added during the show: “I have the highest regard and respect for them both. Hum log hamesha parivar he rahenge (We will always be a family).”

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao, married for 15 years, announced their separation in a statement in July last year. The actor married Kiran Rao in 2005 and they welcomed their son Azad in 2011, of whom they are still a co-parent. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao met on the sets of Lagaan, where Kiran was an assistant director. Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao also collaborated on the actor’s upcoming project Laal Singh Chaddhawhich Kiran Rao co-produced.

Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children. Ira, the younger of Aamir Khan’s two children with his first wife Reena Dutta, made her directorial debut with a theatrical adaptation of Euripides’ Medea, with Hazel Keech in the titular role. It premiered in various cities in India in December 2019. Ira has studied music while her brother Junaid often helps father Aamir Khan in making films.

Aamir Khan’s last on-screen project was the 2018 movie Criminals of Hindustan, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh. His next movie Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Kareena Kapoor and Naga Chaitanya. The film hits theaters on August 11.
