Leeds reject Arsenal’s bid for Barcelona target Raphinha – report

Leeds United have reportedly turned down an offer from Arsenal for Raphinha, who is strongly linked with a move to Barcelona.

Arsenal’s bid “fell well below Leeds’ valuation” and was rejected by the Whites, according to The Athletic. There are no details on how much the Gunners have bid, but it has previously been reported that Leeds want €55m for the Brazilian.

The report adds that Arsenal’s interest in Raphinha “remains strong”, but that Barcelona is “known as its preferred option” as things stand. Due to the Catalans’ ongoing financial problems, it is not clear whether they can sign the attacker this summer.

The Athletic think that if a transfer to Barcelona cannot be sealed, Raphinha’s “preferred destination” would be Chelsea rather than Arsenal. The Blues can offer Champions League football and “possibly a better chance at winning big trophies too.”

Meanwhile, Raphinha’s agent Deco has just been spotted hanging out with President Joan Laporta and Samuel Eto’o in a post on the former Barcelona striker’s Instagram. Make it what you will, the rumor mill will surely do.
