Leeds reject Arsenal’s offer for Raphinha

Leeds United have rejected Arsenal’s offer for winger Raphinha. the athletic understands.

The club from North London made an offer for the Brazilian on Tuesday evening, but that fell well below Leeds’ valuation. Leeds has now rejected that offer.

Arsenal’s interest in Raphinha remains high. Mikel Arteta is considered very enthusiastic and Edu has good relations with his agent Deco.

The 25-year-old Brazilian has long been expected to go to Barcelona and the Catalan side are known as his favorite option, although their pursuit has been complicated by financial difficulties.

Chelsea would be Raphinha’s favorite destination after Barcelona and a move there would mean not only Champions League football but potentially a greater chance of winning major trophies.

Then come Arsenal – they will play Europa League football next season – and Tottenham, who have qualified for the Champions League and are considering Raphinha. But he is not Tottenham’s first choice.

Raphinha has had two great seasons since moving to Leeds, scoring 17 Premier League goals in 65 top-flight appearances.

the athletic reported earlier this month that Leeds is sympathetic to Raphinha’s ambition and has no intention of being dishonest or hindering if their rating is met.

It’s clear that Leeds no longer expects Raphinha to accept a new contract – something that seemed to be on the cards midway through the season – and while he didn’t immediately ask for a transfer, it’s no secret that he’s calling himself in the European competition.

Raphinha’s current contract expires in 2024.

Arsenal have already signed deals to sign Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira this summer.
