Actor Deepak Dobriyal has spoken about his Good Luck Jerry co-actor Janhvi Kapoor and how “there’s a lot of pressure on her” for being the daughter of the late actor Sridevi. Omkara (2006) is a crime drama film directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Othello. Apart from Deepak, the film featured Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vivek Oberoi and Bipasha Basu. Deepak received the Filmfare Award for Special Performance for his role of Rajju Tiwary.

Speaking to News 18, Deepak responded to Sridevi presenting him with his award for Omkara: “That’s why I felt I had a personal connection with Janhvi. Even when I wasn’t shooting, I was always on set motivating her. Her upbringing inspired me to raise my children in a certain way as well. Her innocence, passion for work, inquisitiveness and risky attitude are astonishing. She was surrounded by theater actors on the sets of Good Luck Jerry, and she tried her best to incorporate new things about the craft from them. She was constantly looking for knowledge and I admire that about her.”

He also said, ‘Janhvi is Sridevi ji’s daughter and there is a lot of pressure on her. She is very young and yet they do not spare her. It’s hard for the public to judge her talent based on her performance alone because they constantly want to compare her to her mother.” Janhvi is the daughter of producer Boney Kapoor and his late wife, actor Sridevi.

Good Luck Jerry is the remake of the 2018 Tamil film Kolamaavu Kokila, starring Nayanthara and Yogi Babu in the lead roles. In Good Luck Jerry, Janhvi plays Jaya Kumari aka Jerry, an immigrant from Bihar who becomes a drug dealer in Punjab to pay the medical bills of her mother who was diagnosed with cancer.

The film, directed by Siddharth Sengupta, is written by Pankaj Matta. Good Luck Jerry is supported by Aanand L Rai’s Color Yellow Productions and LYCA Productions, in association with Sundial Entertainment. It also features Mita Vashisht, Neeraj Sood, Sushant Singh and Saurabh Sachdeva. The film was released Friday on Disney+ Hotstar.
