Makers of Janhit Mein Jaari run into trouble with multiplexes on the offer of selling tickets for Day 1 at Rs. 100 : Bollywood News

Ticket prices have risen astronomically in recent years, especially after the pandemic. Many have argued that the high ticket prices are keeping viewers away, especially for low- and mid-budget movies. A start has been made when Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2‘s tickets were sold at reasonable prices. And now, the makers of Janhit Mein Jaaric made a revolutionary announcement a few days ago. According to their claim, the customers could see the Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer on the first day for just Rs. 100. In addition, this offer is applicable in multiplexes across India as of the announcement.

Makers of Janhit Mein Jaari run into multiplexing issues when offering day 1 tickets for Rs. 100

While the launch of this offering made headlines, it appears that certain multiplexes have doubts and are at odds with the producers during the move. A source from the exhibition industry told Bollywood Hungama“All multiplex chains and the makers are wondering how to implement that. As of now, it looks like all theaters in India won’t have this offering. Indeed, some cinemas can sell tickets for Rs. 100 for the whole day, while some cinemas meanwhile are thinking of tickets for Rs. 100 only for performances before 12 noon. A few theaters are toying with the idea of pricing the tickets at Rs. 100 only for the 2 or 3 rows in front. Talks are ongoing and a clearer picture should emerge on Wednesday. The creators are doing their best to convince all the cinemas to sell the tickets for Rs. 100 for all shows on day 1.” The film will be released this Friday, June 10.

The source also added: “If you look at the creative advertisement of the offer, they have inserted an asterisk next to Rs. 100 and below, it reads: ‘Check the details before booking’. Some cinemas in our country are located in elite areas and attract elite patrons. In addition, some cinemas only have armchairs or sofas. The ticket prices in these theaters start from Rs.400 or Rs.500. Such cinemas will obviously not lower the ticket price to Rs.100 to show Janhit Mein Jaaric

A multiplex owner on condition of anonymity said “I’m not screening” Janhit Mein Jaaric and even if I did I would not have kept the rates at Rs. 100 as in my theater, the base price is Rs. 150.”

A senior multiplex chain official stated: “Talks are ongoing. Ideally, the producers cannot determine ticket prices. When such offers are launched, a lot of miscommunication takes place. Some theaters may not price the tickets for Rs. 100. In such cinemas, some guests will get angry and claim that when the makers announced that all the cinemas will be selling the film at Rs. 100, why does that particular cinema price say Rs. 200? It makes for an uncomfortable scenario. If they wanted to keep an attractive plan, they could have told us that they are reducing their share of the distributors and that theaters can sell the tickets at discounted prices accordingly.”

However, Devang Sampat, CEO of Cinepolis India, said: “We are executing the offer. The producer wanted to adopt this strategy. I think it is a great idea to offer consumers such an attractive pricing strategy. That is why all Cinepolis properties throughout India follow this guideline.” However, Devang Sampat added that the armchairs will not be sold for Rs.100 and that only the normal seats would be sold at discounted rates.

Film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi opined: “Ticket prices are the revenue of the exhibitors and distributors. Such a thing is always a joint appeal of the exhibitors and distributors. We have seen in the case of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 that price tags reasonably make going to the theater a lot more attractive to people, especially if the content is paramount for them to get in on. large numbers of. Despite these awards, we’ve seen the film do great numbers. I really feel that as a fraternity we should start looking at more visitors rather than trying to make the most of the limited number of people who come to the theaters. If that’s something the producers and exhibitors can agree on, I’m sure it will very quickly restore the habit of going to the cinema, even for mid-range films.”

A spokesperson for Bhanushali Studios Limited, one of the producers of Janhit Mein Jaari, clarified that the offer will indeed be carried out as promised by them. The spokesperson said: “The idea that the tickets of only the first two rows will be priced at Rs. 100 or that only morning shows have cheaper fares is completely incorrect. We have confirmation on the same from the distributors. However, the said offer is not applies to armchairs, sofa seats etc. The price quoted is for all normal seats for all shows on day 1. For certain premium multiplexes such as PVR Icon Versova or PVR Juhu, the tickets are priced at €150.”
