Man Addicted To Pepsi Says He Drank 30 Cans A Day For 20 Years

Pepsi addict says he drank 30 cans a day for 20 years

Andy Currie drank an estimated 219,000 cans of Pepsi in 20 years.

A supermarket worker in the UK who spent about $8,500 a year swallowing 30 cans of Pepsi a day for 20 years said he broke the habit after turning to hypnotherapy.

According to news week, 41-year-old Andy Currie drank a liter of the fizzy drink every morning and drank another nine liters a day. He drank an estimated 219,000 cans of Pepsi – equivalent to nearly 8,000 kg of sugar – since he developed his addiction in his 20s.

Mr Currie said, ‘I’ve always loved the taste of a cold Pepsi. Nothing could beat it and I was just hooked. I work at night so I always liked the sugar rush to keep me going. I would go through four or five two-liter bottles of Pepsi every day.”

“Since I work at Tesco, I could just buy it right after work and take it home,” he added, according to the point of sale.

The 41-year-old revealed that he spent $25 a day on the fizzy drink, which works out to about $8,500 a year. He admitted that he could have bought a car every year with the “fortune” he spent on his favorite soda. “I just had to have it. As soon as I woke up I went to the fridge and poured myself a big glass of Pepsi and just went about the day,” he said.

Mr Currie decided drastic action was needed after his weight rose to 266 pounds and doctors warned he was at risk of developing diabetes. In fact, through exercise and diet, he managed to lose 28 pounds, but he still couldn’t stop drinking Pepsi.

The British man said he subsequently contacted London-based therapist and hypnotist David Kilmurry, who identified Currie as having avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). Amazingly, just after one online session, Mr. Currie was cured and was drinking water for the first time in two decades. In four weeks, he lost another 14 pounds and is remarkably healthier, as per… news week

Mr Currie claimed: ‘I haven’t touched them (Pepsi cans) in over a month and don’t intend to. I now prefer water. My wife Sarah says my skin looks better and I have so much more energy.”

Mr David, on the other hand, said he was “appalled” that the 41-year-old was drinking so much soda. “That was by far the worst sugar addiction I’ve ever heard of,” he added. The hypnotist also explained that this type of addiction is “very dangerous” and puts enormous pressure on a person’s vital organs.
