Tthere is no change here Cristiano Ronaldo‘s desire to leave Manchester United but the superstar can’t find a new club.
The Red Devils are insisting that he continue at Old Trafford next season, and that is becoming increasingly likely as no other club has made a serious offer for him.
“Cristiano is not for sale. I have planned for next season with him and I look forward to working together”, Erik ten Hag recently stated.
The player has been losing suitors for weeks, so the chances of seeing Cristiano in a United shirt again soon are increasing.
Real Madrid exclude his signing
Any fairytale return to Real Madrid is out of the question, as Los Blancos is unwilling to pay such a high salary to a 37-year-old, especially as it takes the lead role of Karim Benzema.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich were also touted as possible destinations, but they too turned down signing him.
Is Atletico Madrid an option?
While Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has an excellent relationship with Atletico Madrid, the deal fell through for various reasons.
Again, his salary is not possible for Los Colchoneros. But besides, neither the club nor the player are open to the idea because of his Real Madrid past.
Besides, he just wouldn’t tactically fit the given club Diego Simeone‘s defensive demands.
MLS seems out of the question
While it would be an interesting option for the Portuguese, it doesn’t look like it will be his destination next season.
Ronaldo wants to play in the Champions League next season, something he couldn’t in the MLS. In addition, he wants to leave United because he will not play in that competition. Therefore, it seems unlikely that he will opt for a move to the United States or any other competition outside of Europe.
