maruti suzuki india: Maruti Suzuki total sales at 1,61,413 units in May

The country’s largest automaker (MSI) said Wednesday that total wholesale sales stood at 1,61,413 units in May. The company had sold 46,555 units by May 2021, MSI said in a statement.

Last month, the company’s domestic sales rose to 1,34,222 units, from 35,293 units in May 2021, it added.

“May 2022 sales figures are not comparable to May 2021, as the company’s operations in May 2021 were significantly impacted by COVID-19-related disruptions,” the automaker said.

Mini-car sales, made up of Alto and S-Presso, totaled 17,408 units last month. In the same month last year, it stood at 4,760.

The company said sales in the compact segment, including models such as Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire, were 67,947 units in May this year. In the same period last year, that was 20,343 units.

Sales of the medium-sized sedan Ciaz were 586 units in the reporting period. In May 2021 it stood at 349 units.

Sales of commercial vehicles including:

Brezza, S-Cross and Ertiga were at 28,051 units, while in the month of a year ago there were 6,355 vehicles, MSI said.

Shipments last month totaled 10,482 units. In May last year, this was 1,096 units.

Exports last month amounted to 27,191 units, in May last year it stood at 11,262 units.
