Nothing Phone (1) will be sold via a OnePlus-like invite-only system in initial sale period

Nothing Phone (1) will initially be sold by invitation only

In the video, the folks at Nothing talk about an invite system, potentially allowing Nothing to sell its products faster and also get them into the hands of the people who “deserve it the most”. This is not an entirely new strategy, as OnePlus has already done the same in the past and has also been quite successful. And it turns out that the company’s co-founder and CEO, Car Pei, wants to recreate the hype he once managed to achieve with OnePlus.

According to Pei, Nothing had two options: the brand could wait and collect quantities or sell the device as soon as it was ready to be sold. The brand apparently opted for the latter, hence the invitation system.

The brand launched a new campaign a while ago and will soon ship the first 100 Nothing Phone (1) devices in the hands of the highest bidders. It seems that the brand wants to keep the exclusivity factor for the device, which may or may not work in its favor.
