Okinawa Autotech, the electric two-wheeler manufacturer, said it will set up a mega-factory in Karoli, Rajasthan with an investment of ₹500 crore and will be fully operational from October 2023.
This is the company’s third factory after the two factories in Rajasthan.
“This mega-factory will be spread over 30 hectares of land and will provide employment for more than 5,000 people,” it said.
The factory will have an in-house automatic robotic battery production unit, along with a motor and controller factory, and there will be robotic automation for molding plastic car body parts and a paint shop to facilitate localization in the production process.
It also said that production of the full range of scooters and motorcycles under the current joint venture with Tacita, intended for both domestic and international markets, will be done at the new factory.
“As the market leader in the electric two-wheeler segment, we are committed to addressing the industry’s key issues. The research and development facilities planned in the mega-factory will be futuristic to ensure that we can meet the future demand of the industry,” said Jeetender Sharma, founder and general manager of Okinawa Autotech.
