A police officer’s nose, ears and lips were cut off by a man who accused him of blackmailing his wife and forcing her to have an illicit relationship with him, police in Pakistan’s Punjab province said Monday.
Officer Qasim Hayat was subjected to severe torture in Jhang district, some 200 km from Lahore, on Sunday before the main defendant, Muhammad Iftikhar, and his accomplices cut off his nose, ears and lips.
Iftikhar, who suspected Hayat of having relations with his wife, kidnapped him along with 12 accomplices on his way home and took him to a deserted place where they subjected him to severe torture before cutting off his body parts with a sharp-edged weapon. said a police officer.
The officer was rushed to Jhang District Headquarters Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
Last month, Iftikhar had registered a case against Agent Hayat under sections 354 (attack on woman), 384 (extortion) and 292 (pornography) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Iftikhar alleged that Hayat forced his wife into illicit relations with him while threatening to kill her son. Iftikhar claimed that when his wife met Hayat, he forced her to have sex with him and he also videotaped the act and later started blackmailing her.
Police said raids were underway to track down Iftikhar and his accomplices.
