Pankaj Tripathi feels Bollywood decides artist’s value too quickly

Actor Pankaj Tripathi has spoken about the one thing he would like to change about the Hindi film industry. Pankaj Tripathi debuted in 2004 with a short role in Run and then in Omkara (2006). He starred in dozens of movies and TV shows. However, he gained fame for his supporting role in the film series Gangs of Wasseypur (2012). Since then, he has appeared in films such as Fukrey, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Newton, Stree, Ludo and Mimi. He is best known for his starring role in the web series Mirzapur and has also worked in Criminal Justice, Yours Truly and Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Pankaj said: “There are many obstacles, challenges, competition and uncertainty, but despite that I am working on my terms and conditions here and people have accepted me. I have respectfully declined films from major production houses that say ‘No, this I don’t find it exciting’ and the other accepted it.”

He then added: “But yeah, again, I’d like to change this industry that you’re setting the artist’s value too quickly. Don’t set the value, try to give everyone equal opportunity. But again, whether it’s a company or industry it’s hard to say everyone should be given equal opportunity Since it’s a company how will everyone get the same opportunity?… But hey, talents like me take a while to get into the film industry At times, people with more talent than me still queue up to find their own spot.”

Pankaj will next be seen in Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming feature film Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga. It will be released theatrically on June 24 and also stars Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta. Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Reliance Entertainment and Match Cut Productions Private Limited.

The actor will also begin shooting for season three of his hit Prime Video series Mirzapur, in which he plays don Kaleen Bhaiya’s favorite character. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment, Mirzapur is one of the biggest breakthrough Indian Originals since its debut in 2018.
