Raksha Bandhan trailer: Akshay Kumar marries off his sisters in comedy on dowry

The trailer of Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar, was released Tuesday night. In the nearly three-minute trailer, Akshay is seen looking for grooms to marry off his four sisters. In the film, Akshay is a businessman who owns an eatery. Bhumi, his love interest, asks him about their wedding while looking around for suitable men for his sisters. Akshay is seen throughout the trailer as he tries to balance his work and care for his four sisters. The social comedy takes a hilarious dowry quest, with Akshay trying to figure out how to fund his sisters’ weddings. In one of the scenes, Akshay is asked at a marriage agency for discounts on weddings.

On the other hand, Bhumi’s father gives him an ultimatum to tie the knot with his daughter. In a desperate attempt to get a groom, Akshay is seen wanting to marry one of his sisters, even a scrap dealer. The trailer ends with Akshay finally getting married to one of his sisters.

In the final scene, Akshay reveals to his sister that he has taken out a mortgage on his shop. When she asks about the money needed for the wedding of the three other sisters, Akshay smiles and says he will sell one of his kidneys. In one of the scenes, Akshaya is also seen crying with folded hands.

Raksha Bandhan is directed by Aanand L Rai and produced by Zee Studios, Color Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films. The film also stars Abhinay Raj Singh, Sahejmeen Kaur, Deepika Khanna, Sadia Khateeb and Smrithi Srikanth in prominent roles. Raksha Bandhan is scheduled for release on August 11.

Initially, the film was scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2021, to coincide with Diwali, but it has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which has caused a delay in pre-production and other crucial work. Raksha Bandhan will be Akshay Kumar’s third release in the year 2022, after Bachchhan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj.
