Ravin AI granted patent for vehicle “Damage-Finder” system

Ravin’s proprietary technology uses stationary cameras using deep AI algorithms to improve the accuracy of vehicle reports and improve transparency between car users, service providers and businesses

Ravin AI, a leader in developing AI-enabled vehicle inspection tools, today announced a European patent for its Vehicle Damage-Finder Stationary Modeling System. The technology uses stationary cameras to capture the image of a car and provide a comprehensive vehicle damage report by comparing a vehicle to the calculated model. This enables the inspection of individual parts of a moving vehicle and increases the accuracy of reports without limiting shooting angles, ultimately leading to improved fleet management, transparent experiences with car rental and repair shops, faster and more reliable insurance claims and fairer used car prices. The patent covers Britain, Germany, Italy, France, Spain and is the first of its kind in AI-powered visual inspection.

Rather than relying on an OEM database or vehicle blueprint, Ravin’s damage finder uses an algorithmic modeling system, capable of calculating a vehicle model, recognizing what and where certain parts are, and identifying anything that “stranges ” is to a car (dirt, decals, damage, etc.) by comparing the car model with the actual vehicle. By comparing the vehicle to its own model, it is no longer necessary to train the AI to identify millions of images. This allows detailed inspection of a vehicle’s components, improving both sensitivity and accuracy.

The newly patented technology has already been successfully deployed at numerous locations, including London Heathrow Airport, in partnership with Avis.

“This patent is an important vote of confidence in our technology as a breakthrough in vehicle damage assessment,” said Eliron Ekstein, CEO and co-founder of Ravin AI. “Our algorithms not only save time by improving analysis efficiency, they also do not interfere with fleet management. Our unique technology is already creating a more coherent and reliable vehicle assessment system for consumers and businesses across the continent, enabling fleet managers, insurance companies and car rental companies to streamline operations and improve the customer experience.”
