Rohit Sharma overtakes Virat Kohli, completes two records during INDvWI 1st T20I: Indian skipper Rohit Sharma continued his purple spot as the leader of the Indian side when he recorded a comprehensive 68 run win against the West Indies in the 1st T20I at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. With the win, India climbs 1-0 in the series of three games.
Sharma played a crucial knock as she batted first against the Windies. He scored 64 runs from 44 pitches on the surface where making shots was not easy. He kept up his momentum and scored half a century using seven limits and two glorious maxima.
Meanwhile, the Indian skipper also claimed two major records in the shortest format of cricket. Sharma recaptured his crown of highest finisher in the men’s T20I, surpassing Martin Guptil, who was just 20 runs ahead of him.
Notably earlier this week, Martin Guptil had surpassed Rohit Sharma to become the person with the most runs in the T20Is. He scored 40 runs against Scotland to outdo the Indian leader, but Sharma reclaimed his throne when he ran away on Friday to bat against the West Indies.
