Director SS Rajamouli’s RRR has continued to earn praise from the foreign press since its debut on Netflix and the #encoRRRe event. The latest comes from USA Today, which has awarded the film No. 1 spot on its list of the best movies of 2022 to date. RRR has been rated by this media as the best action movie beating Hollywood blockbusters like The Batman and Top Gun Maverick.
“SS Rajamouli’s lavish and bromanced 1920s Indian musical epic – think Marvel and “Fast and Furious” featuring a Bollywood baby (but in Telugu language) – is the one film everyone should see,” read the description of RRR in the list.
Recently, the film also received a lot of attention from Israel’s longest-running newspaper Haaretz. The film’s review gave him big kudos and especially praised Jr NTR’s performance in the film.
Starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles, RRR was released on March 24 earlier this year after an overwhelming response from the public in India. The film ran to packed houses from day one, with a collection exceeding Rs 100 crore on its opening day. RRR became Rajamouli’s second consecutive film to earn Rs 1000 crore from worldwide ticket sales after Baahubali: The Conclusion.

However, RRR didn’t get much attention in US theaters. That changed when a handful of foreign press began praising the film. After its OTT debut, #encoRRRe was hosted by a handful of cinema enthusiasts. It was an attempt to give another chance to those who missed the big screen spectacle the first time around. The event was a huge hit and it also generated a funny response, with many calling the bromance between the characters of NTR and Ram Charan a “gay relationship.”
RRR also stars Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. The Hindi version of the film is streaming on Netflix and the original Telugu version is available on ZEE5.
