The Akshay Kumar fronted historically Samrat Prithviraj, has finally seen some momentum in its favor as the film showed a 25 to 30 percent jump on Sunday. According to estimates, Yash Raj Films production has accumulated in the range of: €15.50 to 16.50 crores on Sunday.
This costs the opening weekend collection of Samrat Prithviraj to Rs. $40 million. While the first two days of the historic were pretty low, the jump in collections on Sunday has meant that the film can cite a just about average weekend total.
The weekend in the same range as Alia Bhatt starrer Gangubai Kathiawadic and about 20 percent lower than that of Ranveer Singh 83† Akshay Kumar’s period drama should now show excellent grip in the collections on Monday to have some gas in the pipe to safely sail at the box office for the next 2 weeks. The weekend is not as good as expected and therefore holding the weekday is very crucial to survive and get a respectable total. It will be a little difficult, but box office and unpredictability go hand in hand.
The film should earn about Rs. 8 crores on Monday for a chance to win Rs. 100 crores and we can know this tomorrow night. Word of mouth seems mixed, with massive belts doing reasonable business while the subways aren’t firing at all. While even Rs. 100 crores would be non-performance, it will still add some sort of weight to the Khiladi’s filmography.
